We're reading at english course, in my opinion, one of the best books in the whole world. It is called "The Catcher in the Rye" written by J. D. Salinger. I really like this book, I've read it two times in Russian and now I read it in English.
I read "The catcher in the Rye" in frirst time in the period of my life, when I was denying the whole world, maybe because of this factor I liked this book at that moment. Holden's feelings in this book was like mine in that period.
I am really happy that we talk about this book at English lessons. I think it can helps me to understand this book better.
I don't know books, films or something else which seem to be similar to it, but in many songs, in many books we can find a mention about this book. For example, Holden is mentioned in Green Day's, the Offspring's, Splean's songs. Many famous people really like this book.
I don't know about what I can write in this blog post. I only want to say that for me "The catcher in the Rye" is the best book in the world.

The Catcher in the Rye is definitely one of those books that everyone can relate to in their own way. I think an interesting parallel is this: when I was reading the book, I felt like I was one of the few people who could connect with Holden, even though I found out later that MANY people can identify with him; and at the same time, Holden feels like he is the only person in the world going through those kinds of problems, even though maybe even some of the people he interacts with in the novel secretly have problems like his. Teen angst!
ОтветитьУдалитьI've commented your blog, although you've changed the topic name, but my comment disappeared. Stupid internet ^_^
ОтветитьУдалитьSalinger's book is very discussible and different people interpret it in distinct way. For example, when i first read it, I didn't like it at all. When we have read it in English, it seemed to be much better then I thought five years ago. However, anyway, I'm not its fan at all =(
